Fiano di Avelino may not be a mainstream variety but we think that it should be, especially when we consider the quality of this offering from Gabriele DeFalco. From the region of Campania, this delightful white has a steely mineral component along with apple flavors that may remind some of a dry German Riesling. Crisp and completely refreshing, this racy white finishes with a spicy, peppery note and lemony acidity.

Arnaldo Caprai has for years been considered Umbria’s best producer and was Gambero Rosso’s winery of the year in 2006. The Poggio Belvedere is Caprai’s entry level wine, made from 100% Sangiovese. It’s quite dense and firm in the mouth with flavors of cherry and wild berries, along with some spice and leather and a long smooth lip-smacking finish. This will shine with your favorite pasta and red sauce dish.
