Daniel Olivier
Montravel Blanc Sec 2007 . . . .
.
8.99
88/100 - Our score.
The grower for this wine was trained at Chateau
D’Yquem. This blend of 60% Sauvignon Blanc and 40% Semillon
shows intriguing aromas of lemon/lime, ginger and grass. It’s all
citrus and mineral in the mouth with a long and clean finish.
Novellum
Vin de Pays des Côtes Catalanes
Chardonnay 2007 . . . .
.
10.59
88/100 - Our score.
Unlike previous vintages which contained a small
amount of Viognier, the 2007 Novellum is 100% Chardonnay.
The 2007 is from the Côtes Catalanes where Jean Marc Lafage is
now the master winemaker. The clean, lively 2007 Novellum saw a
tiny amount of oak: just enough to give a little fattness but not enough
to overwhelm the delicate tropical aromas and flavors. A clean
perfume of pineapple and ripe apple comes through on the palate.
Bright acidity contributes to a wonderfully long and clean finish.
Kuentz-Bas
Alsace Blanc 2006 . . . .
.
12.99
88/100 - Our score.
Here’s an entry level white that shows the regional
character of Alsace. It’s a blend of Sylvaner, Pinot Blanc,
Chasselas and Muscat d’Alsace. There’s nothing else quite like it
in the market. It offers an attractive nose of honey, citrus and spice
along with a stony minerality. Similar themes echo on the palate,
followed by a long and completely dry lemony finish.

Héritiers du Comte Lafon
“Clos de la Crochette”
Macon-Chardonnay 2005 . . . .
.
23.99
90/100 - Burghound. “Slightly more evident wood
frames riper orchard fruit and a pretty hint of lime
that leads to rich, full and sweet flavors that possess
excellent volume and plenty of vibrancy on the deliciously
sappy finish that is bone dry. This is a lacy
and detailed wine of finesse and understatement
yet with no lack of power.”

Domaine Charvin
“A Cote”
Vin de Pay de Principaute d’Orange 2006 . . . .
.
10.99
88/100 - Our score.
87/100 - Wine Advocate. "Charvin has a new offering, a blend of
50% Grenache and 50% Merlot that is his comical take-off on the
movie Sideways. The 2006 A Cote is surprisingly good, with very
attractive, plump, gamey black cherry and chocolatey
fruit intermixed with some cedar and sweet cherries.
It is delicious and best drunk over the next several years.”

Domaine Grand Veneur
Côtes du Rhône Reserve 2006 . . . .
.
11.79
90/100 - Our score.
Aromas of spice, pepper and fresh black, blue and red
berries. Extracted berry flavors ooze in the mouth with
strawberry, blueberry and black raspberry. Great structure and
depth with a velvet-like mouth feel that is oh-so smooth. The finish
is long and peppery. An excellent offering from the outstanding 2006
Côtes du Rhône vintage. |

Chateau Puynormond
Montagne St. Emillion 2005 . .
. .
.
13.99
88-89/100 - Our score.
Here is a wine that shows the phenomenal
quality of the 2005 Bordeaux vintage. This
blend of 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet
Sauvignon sees absolutely no wood; the maturation
is done in concrete vats. Wonderful red berry
and plum nose with ripe berry fruit flavors that show
generous body and structure. Comforting in the
mouth, but even more comforting on the wallet.

Mas Belles Eaux
“Les Coteaux”
Coteaux du Languedoc 2005 . . . .
.
18.99
91/100 - Wine Spectator. “This refined, elegant red from the south
of France has an enticing aroma of pepper and sage, with flavors of
raspberry, kirsch, red cherry and hints of garrigue. The pure, minerally
finish ends on a meaty note. Syrah, Grenache and Mourvèdre.
Drink now through 2012. 1,000 cases imported.”

Côtes du Rhône 2005 . . . .

91/100 - Wine Advocate.
91/100 - Our score.
Well, it’s finally here! Some of you have
been asking for this wine for nearly two
years. Is this the greatest Côtes du Rhône
there is? Frankly, we haven’t tasted a better one.
With the soaring price of Chateauneuf, it might be
worth holding onto a case of this for a decade or
two: you might be surprised! The 2005 vintage is
the real deal. This wine continued to show its stuff
even five days after being opened. |
